Bio
Alison Quin grew up in Northern California, Sebastopol, where her first drama teacher was named Starr and her first voice teacher was named Joy—fitting beginnings for an artist whose work has always been rooted in love, truth, and community.
She went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice Performance from San Francisco State University, performing in operas, studying Mozart, while also sitting under the “Janis Joplin tree” in Golden Gate Park. Her training included extensive work in harmony and rhythm with the university’s Chamber Singers under Dr. Joshua Habermann and David Xiques. That ensemble work honed her ability to blend and collaborate musically—skills she continues to carry into the rehearsal rooms and stages of New York.
After establishing herself in Bay Area regional theater—making her Equity debut as the Witch in Into the Woods—Alison also shared her artistry in the community. She taught theater as a teaching artist with the Boys & Girls Club, founded her own private voice studio, and worked commercially as an actor represented by Stars Agency, where she recorded voiceovers and appeared in industrial projects for Silicon Valley clients.
Her journey and passions eventually led her back to New York City, where she trained at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting Conservatory, studying Shakespeare with Jack Wetherall and scene study with Shawn Williams & Dale Brown. Favorite roles there include the title role in Wendy Wasserstein’s The Heidi Chronicles and Leah in Steven Dietz’s Trust.
Now based in New York, Alison continues to explore work that blends music, theater, and activism. She has appeared in short films, stage readings, and is developing her own cabaret show. Whether telling stories of resilience, joy, or the messy beauty of the human condition, she brings a versatile voice, openhearted presence, and a touch of bohemian spirit to the stage and screen. A dynamic vocalist, Alison moves seamlessly from the grit of rock to the finesse of opera, with the presence and power of a leading lady.
